DESCRIPTION:

 

seaTwinning has just come up with the idea of “Any human anywhere will blossom in a hundred unexpected talents and capacities simply by being given the opportunity to do so” with 12 participant teachers from Mediterranean countries who have met during the Etwinning Multilateral Seminar which was hold in Ä°zmir, Turkey in 2019. In addition to getting to know the Mediterranean culture more closely, the project aims to enable the students to produce original products with "Genius hour" activities. Creativity will be the skill of the future. That’s why the project aims to encourage students to design meaningful and authentic work, support tech-centered and tech-limited classrooms, focus on inquiry and research, promote learning beyond the classroom, make the students think critically, laterally, creatively.  To create a democratic project, based on the students' social and emotional learning (SEL)  which will help them manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others and other cultures, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions, the project aims  to make the students express their voice and their choice in the classroom, they develop the foundational, 21st century skills needed to solve real-world challenges in a variety of disciplines. seaTwinning is more than a sea Project; it is designed to open the 21st century’s door by giving the European students opportunies to create their futures with the entrepreneurship movement.

AIMS:

​

  • To develop basic skills, such as entrepreneurship, digital skills, and multilingualism in all fields of learning and teaching;

  • To use innovative and pupil-centered pedagogical formal and non-formal approaches;

  • To improve the level of key competences and skills, such as teamwork, leadership, communication, ethics, organization skills, problem-solving,

  • To promote digital technology as an entrepreneurial tool for fostering independent lifelong learning;

  • To develop participants’ social and personal skills;

  • To offer opportunities for every learner to experience the culture, participate in learning, teaching and training activities;

  • To provide students the freedom to design their own learning,

  • To make students aware of the sea creatures living in the Mediterranean

  • To enable students to get to know the famous sailors who lived in the Mediterranean Sea and to take the students on a historical journey by witnessing their life stories.

  • To make the students design their own advertisement materials;

  • To encourage the students to take an active role in sales and marketing;

  • To transform a classroom into a learner-centered environment;

  • To let the students take responsibility for their learning. Give them voice and choice about what they learn.

 ACTIVITIES:

 

OCTOBER: Introduction of the Project, prepare marine concept masks, create students' transnational teams, upload the group photos,create a project board at school.

NOVEMBER: Make a musical instrument with the materials from the sea or with the traditional pieces.

DECEMBER: Create a ship model covered with the photo and life story of the most famous sailors.

JANUARY: Prepare an illustrated dictionary of sea professions of Mediterranean.

FEBRUARY: Write a short description of one of the Mediterranean Sea creatures in your country’s sea, river and create sea creatures with various materials.

MARCH: Design a poster against “Sea Pollution” & with the theme of ”Stop Plastic Pollution”

APRIL: Design business cards, advertisement materials, and a website. (entrepreneurship activity)

MAY: Organize a Mediterranean Market place at school to advertise and sell the products.

JUNE:Evaluation & Dissemination activities

EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • Developing cross cultural awareness towards other participants

  • Create relationships with classmates from other countries;

  • Use a variety of research methods to engage in active learning around a shared topic;

  • Develop artistic, creative, expressive, linguistic and social skills;

  • Use new technologies as a valuable tool to communicate.

  • Create blended learning opportunities through online learning and class-based environments.
